Title : Shadow Frost Author : Coco Ma Genre : YA Fantasy Pages : 400

My thoughts : I picked this in the beginning of the month via audiobook. It was a random purchase from Libro.fm. I liked the characters and enjoyed the world building. The book was enjoyable but not memorable. I know there’s another book in the series but I’m not interested in the book to continue on. I more than likely don’t see myself picking this up again. I rated this ⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars.

Title : The Sound of Stars Author : Alechia Dow Genre : YA Sci-fi Fantasy Pages : 400

My thoughts : This was a Sci-fi story about an AI who loves music and a young girl who loves books but both are illegal. I really enjoyed this story and the characters. I love reading books about people who love books. I gave this a ⭐️⭐️⭐️ star rating.

Title : Code Girls Author : Liza Mundy Genre : Nonfiction Pages : 640 Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Title : Red Sister Author : Mark Lawrence Genre : Adult Fantasy Pages : 469

My thoughts : I really enjoyed this is fantasy the world building and story of Nona a 10 year old studying to be a Nun and Assassin. The story was interesting and kept me wanting to read. I rated this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

My thoughts : I fell in LOVE with HeartStopper and Nick and Charlie. This graphic novel series is a LGTBQ+ romance about two guys who meet in school. Charlie is in a toxic relationship when him and Nick meet. They become friends and things flow from there. I binged all three volumes in one sitting at like 2:00 am and I don’t regret it. Nick and Charlie have been on my mind since and I can’t wait to pick up Vol 4. Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Title : The Ruin of Kings Author : Jenn Lyons Genre : Adult Fantasy Pages : 560

My thoughts : When I read this book I decided to go the audiobook and ebook route. Which honestly was a great choice in the long run. I loved this book, the characters, world building, magic system, and dragons. What else can you ask for to make the perfect fantasy book. If you’d like to know more of my thoughts check out my review. My rating of this is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Title : Grey Sister Author : Mark Lawrence Genre : Adult Fantasy Pages : 416

My thoughts : This is the second installment in the Ancestor Trilogy. I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the first. I started to just not really care about anything that was going on in the book. That’s not to say it wasn’t good I just think I was ready to read other things. I don’t see myself picking up the last book only because I was so uninterested in the second. I rated this ⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars.

Title : Ring Shout Author : P. Djeli Clark Genre : Historical fantasy novella Pages : 185

My thoughts : Ring Shout I picked up on a whim, I had also purchased this on Libro.fm some time ago. I decided it was time to go ahead to and give it a listen especially seeing as how it was such a quick read. This is a historical fantasy with a supernatural twist. This story follows a young girls that’s fighting monsters called “Ku Kluxes”. I really enjoyed this short in captivating read. I thought it was truly interesting and a great novella. I rated it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

The characters are amazing, the plot is great, the magic, representation, the setting. The wrap up and conclusion was great. This book ripped my heart out ugh I was I cried, I was mad, happy probably experienced every emotional possible while reading this. The Diviner’s series will never be forgotten in my heart. Discussion Post: Contemplating monthly TBR’s 📚

Discussion Post: Contemplating monthly TBR’s 📚

Hello everyone! This post will be short and sweet on why I want to start monthly TBR’s.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been thinking about reading certain books I’ve already picked ahead. I’ll be creating monthly TBR’s. I think it would be best to be able to let you guys knows what I’ll be reading! I read primarily adult or YA SFF, I enjoy graphic novels and thrillers.

I’m going to start planning out my TBR’s a ahead of time, based on series I’m reading and unread books on my kindle. I have literally 500+ unread and backlisted/new released books on my kindle. Normally I’m more of a mood reader but I’m wanting to change that.

My goal is going to be to finish any series I’ve started. Which really isn’t too many since I’ve finished them or the series isn’t completed. Then I’ll start working on my Kindle TBR. I prefer to read ebooks on my kindle, I recently got a kindle Oasis and I love it. I still have my Paperwhite but I just decided to treat myself.

I’ve been collecting backlisted and new releases ebooks for awhile. I just recently at the end of 2020 started reading strictly ebooks and not buying physical books as a form of minimalism. I do a lot of reading at night so my kindle has been a great investment.

I think the books I will focus on for the rest of April will be Grey Sister and maybe I’ll start Before the Dil Breaks you again. I’ve picked up the audiobook a couple times but this time I think I’ll pick up the ebook.

I have a few series to finish then so many I want to start. Subscribe to my blog if I’d like to keep up my reading. There will be plenty more to come. Keep reading and dreaming 🌸✨🦋

Life update & March Recent Reads

Life update & March Recent Reads

Hello everyone!! I hope you have all been staying safe, reading as many books as possible and binging booktube. This year although it’s only April has been a roller coaster. Since I started my new job in September of 2020, I have been super busy pretty much since. I was exhausted after work, with all the overtime I was working I just didn’t have the motivation to create blog posts. Coming into February 2021 I was promoted, now I’m settled into my new position. I really missed creating blog posts, and of course I’ve still been reading. I would love to get back to creating posts for you all so you know what I’m reading and can keep up with me! I will be posting more so be on the lookout! That’s my life update for you all, now we’ll get on to the books. I didn’t pick up a book till March so that’s where we’ll start.📚

My first read of the year was Blood and Honey a YA fantasy romance by Shelby Mahurin. I would say this was not what I thought it was going to be. I definitely enjoyed the first book a lot more, I felt like not much really happened in the second book. The characters keep me going, I love the banter and relationships. I’m excited for Gods & Monsters to come out to continue the series. I rated this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
My second pick up of the year was Black Sun, this was my first novel by Rebecca Roanhorse. This book was a fantasy novel. All I have to say is WOW, the plot, characters, world building everything in this book blew me away. I read this book via audio, I felt it was the best way to process since some of the names and things were complicated too pronounce. The way this book started had me like WHAATTT. I was blown away by this work, and can’t wait to read more. I’m interested in picking up Trail of Lightning just because of how much I loved Black Sun. As I was reading Black Sun it somewhat reminded me of The First Season. I rated this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
I randomly picked up Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky, this book was extremely long for no reason I felt like. This book was an adult psychological thriller and suspense novel. The premise was interesting and the characters were okay, but I only finished this book because I didn’t want to just put it down. I should have DNF’d but I’m still getting comfortable DNFing books. The chapters seemed extremely long and it just got boring. This story follows a young boy that hears a voice talking to him in his head. That he believes is some imaginary best friend. The demon tells him he has to build a treehouse or something bad is going to happen to his family. I would not pick this book up again. I rated it ⭐️⭐️⭐️.
The last book I picked up in March was The Devil and the Dark Water by Stuart Turton. This was an adult historical fiction mystery thriller. I somewhat enjoyed this book, and I lost interest in some places. The pacing wasn’t the best it was kind of slow, or maybe it wasn’t just very interesting to me. I enjoy historical fiction and mysteries but the story just seemed to fall short for me. The banter and characters were okay but not memorable. I rated this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️.

That is all the books I read in the month of March. I hope you enjoyed my little life update and the books I read. Stay tuned for more upcoming posts. Keep reading and dreaming 📚🦋🌸
